Kia ora! I’m Ashwini.
I’m the artist behind Ashtanglesnz and a Zentangle teacher. Read about my art journey.

All you need is passion and gratitude! It’s easy to say but very hard to follow. Passion is exhausting, tiring. But also very satisfying, giving you a sense of empowerment. My art has always been a passion for me. It’s part of my life for a long time. It helps me relax and enjoy the moment. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and empowerment.
Gratitude on the other hand is easy for me. As I grow old, I feel grateful for the life I am leading, my family, the successes and accomplishments. One of the reasons I like Zentangle as the method starts with gratitude and ends with gratitude.
I have tried various art forms such as urban sketching, Batik silk painting, Indian tribal art, water colours, acrylic, alcohol inks, paper crafts such as origami and quilling.
My journey with Zentangle began in 2016 when I stumbled upon a Zentangle introductory course that rekindled my passion for art. As life became busy with work and taking care of my child, I had drifted away from my creative pursuits. An advertisement for a Zentangle workshop in a local art store caught my eye, and I was immediately drawn to it. The simplicity and accessibility of Zentangle, which requires just a pen and a small piece of paper, resonated with me. I enrolled in the workshop and have never looked back since.
Zentangle has had a profound impact on my mental well-being, helping me to improve my focus, reduce stress, and regain confidence in my drawing skills. Over the years, I’ve created numerous Zentangle-inspired art pieces and am now thrilled to share this wonderful experience with others as a CZT.

I wanted to become a Certified Zentangle Teacher since my first introduction workshop. Initially, the certification was only available in person in the USA, making it difficult for me to attend. However, the onset of COVID-19 led to the course being offered as an online seminar, and I completed it in November 2024.
